🌷 FOR ADOPTION — BONNIE 🌷

Meet beautiful Bonnie 🤍🐾

Bonnie is a gentle, sweet-natured girl who has absolutely blossomed since arriving in foster care. She was quite unsure of her new surroundings initially, but as the days have passed and she’s realised she’s safe, we’ve watched more and more of her gorgeous little personality come out.

Bonnie has clearly experienced life in a home before because her house manners are fantastic. She’s respectful inside, doesn’t beg for food, listens well and is very happy simply hanging out with her people.

She’s also an excellent sleeper — and apparently a girl who appreciates the finer things in life. 😂 Give Bonnie a comfortable bed, couch, air-conditioning or a fan and she’s sorted.

Her foster carers recently left her alone for eight hours, keeping an eye on her via camera. Bonnie’s big day home alone consisted primarily of… sleeping on the bed in front of the fan. 😂 She didn’t destroy anything, and when her carers returned, most of her toys had simply migrated onto the bed with her.

Speaking of toys — Bonnie has discovered PLAY! 🥹

She’s gradually started chewing and playing with her toys and has even begun learning fetch. Returning the ball is still a work in progress, but if you call her over, she’ll come close enough for you to gently take it and throw it again.

There has been no resource guarding observed in foster care. If Bonnie picks up something she shouldn’t have, her carers can gently take it from her and she happily allows them to do so.

And she has developed possibly her best personality trait yet…

💩 Post-toilet victory laps. 😂

Apparently completing her business now requires an immediate celebration involving zoomies around the yard. We don’t make the rules.

Bonnie loves being around her people and will happily follow you around before settling somewhere nearby for another nap. She’s affectionate and enjoys cuddling up beside you on the couch or bed.

She’s also beautiful to walk on lead, naturally staying beside her handler rather than pulling ahead.

Initially, Bonnie displayed some behaviours that suggested she was feeling quite unsure while decompressing in her new environment. Encouragingly, many of these have already disappeared as she’s settled in.

She’s also becoming more comfortable around other dogs. After initially being uncertain about the neighbour’s dog through the fence, Bonnie has since greeted her again with no signs of anxiety. It’s still early days, so introductions to any future canine siblings should be calm and considered while we continue learning more about her.

One thing Bonnie remains very sure about?

🚗 Cars are not her favourite.

She still doesn’t enjoy getting into the car and will need some patient, positive work around car travel.

🏡 BONNIE’S IDEAL HOME

Although Bonnie’s confidence is growing beautifully, we still think she’d be happiest in a calmer household with a reasonably predictable routine.

She doesn’t need someone constantly entertaining her. In fact, she’s proving to be quite content entertaining herself, snoozing somewhere comfortable or simply hanging around her people.

A home that gives her plenty of appropriate toys, somewhere ridiculously comfortable to sleep and the freedom to continue building her confidence at her own pace would suit her beautifully.

Bonnie’s foster carers have watched her go from a cautious little girl who wasn’t quite sure what to make of everything to a dog who plays with toys, fetches balls, greets the neighbour’s dog and does celebratory zoomies after going to the toilet. 🥹

And it’s still early days.

We think there’s so much more of Bonnie still waiting to come out.

We really don’t like having to make these posts, but we have reached the point where we simply cannot take in any more cats.

Our foster homes are full. We have cats waiting for foster placements. Our carers are stretched, and the surrender and assistance requests continue to come through every single day.

Unless we can get some of the cats currently in our care ADOPTED, we will not be able to accept any new cats into Save A Paw NT’s care.

As a foster-based rescue, we don’t have a shelter or facility where we can simply make room for another cat. Every animal we accept needs an actual home to go into — and right now, those homes are full.

We have some absolutely beautiful cats waiting for their forever families. Some have been with us for months and are completely ready to go home. Every adoption doesn’t just change the life of that cat — it opens a foster space and allows us to say yes to the next one who needs us. 🤍

Our beautiful boy Diesel urgently needs a foster carer! 🤎🐾

Diesel is a friendly, affectionate 6-year-old Staffy X who gets along well with other dogs and children. He’s an all-round lovely boy who just needs somewhere safe to land while he waits for his forever home.

At six years old, Diesel is well past the puppy chaos. He’s already house trained and is looking for somewhere he can settle in, enjoy some company and be part of family life. 🤎

Diesel does have some sores on his back legs which will be assessed and treated through our veterinary team. As always, all necessary veterinary expenses are covered by Save A Paw NT while he is in foster care.

We provide the veterinary care and support — we just need someone to provide the home.

Unfortunately, Save A Paw NT is currently at capacity for cats and kittens.

We have a number of cats currently staying at our partner vet clinics who are ready to leave — but they have nowhere to go. As a foster-based rescue with no shelter facility, every animal we can help relies on having a foster home available.

Until we can get some of these cats out of clinics and back into foster care, we simply cannot take in any more cats. 💔

If you have a spare room, bathroom or other safe indoor space and can offer a temporary home to a cat or kitten, we would LOVE to hear from you. Even taking just one cat into foster opens up a space and allows us to keep helping.

LITTLE PUP UPDATE — MEET SPANNER

This little face might look familiar to some of you — she’s been doing the rounds on Facebook today, and this afternoon she was brought into the care of Save A Paw NT.

Unfortunately, she is very, very unwell and currently in a critical condition. 💔

Right now, this little girl is receiving a blood transfusion and is being closely monitored by the veterinary team. We’re hoping that getting some much-needed blood into her little body will give her the strength she needs to start turning a corner.

And she now has a name — Spanner. 🤍

She’s been named after her incredible blood donor, who came in at the drop of a hat when we desperately needed them. Thanks to Spanner’s donor, this little girl has been given a fighting chance tonight. 🩸🐾

For now, she’s exactly where she needs to be, and we’re giving her every chance we can. We’ll share another update as soon as we know more.

Cases like this come to us unexpectedly, and emergency veterinary care adds up incredibly quickly. If you’d like to help us cover the cost of Spanner’s treatment, donations of any size are hugely appreciated.

Clyde is a beautiful, gentle boy with a wonderfully sweet nature. He can be a little shy when he first meets new people, but once he realises he’s safe and starts to feel comfortable, his affectionate personality really begins to shine. ❤️

He’s the kind of dog who just needs a little time to find his feet — and once he does, you get to see what an incredibly loving boy he really is.

🐶 Clyde gets along really well with other dogs and would be very happy sharing his home with a friendly canine companion. Because he can initially be on the shyer side, we think he would do best with another dog who is friendly and respectful rather than overly dominant, allowing Clyde to settle in and build his confidence at his own pace.

🦮 He also walks beautifully on the lead and is a genuinely lovely, easy boy to have around.

At only one year old, Clyde still has so much life ahead of him. He’s past the tiny puppy stage but still young enough to have years and years of adventures with his future family.

What Clyde really needs now is somewhere he can properly belong — a safe, loving home with people who will give him the time he needs to settle in and then enjoy all the affection this gorgeous boy has to give. 🥹❤️

During the Katherine floods, this clever little kitten decided she wasn’t going to wait around for someone to rescue her and simply adopted a local car parts shop instead. 🔧😂

She quickly became part of the furniture, won over everyone around her and earned the extremely appropriate name Socket.

These days, Socket has left the car parts lifestyle behind and developed considerably more expensive tastes.

Specifically…

Fluffy blankets, cosy beds and warm places to curl up are much more her speed these days.

Socket is a very friendly, sweet girl who can initially be a little shy with new people or unfamiliar surroundings. Give her some time to settle and her beautiful personality starts to shine.

Last time we introduced Cheeto, our slightly wonky little orange man was still under repairs following his FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery.

Well, we’re very happy to announce that Cheeto is officially ready for adoption! 🥹🧡

Cheeto has done brilliantly through his recovery and is now ready to leave the workshop behind and find himself a permanent home.

He may have had a slightly more complicated start than some of his fellow ginger colleagues, but Cheeto certainly hasn’t let that stop him.

And come on… his name is CHEETO. He’s orange.

Quite frankly, we don’t know what more you could possibly want. 😂

This gorgeous little man has had his surgery, completed his recovery and is now waiting for someone to decide that their household is missing a Cheeto-shaped addition.

Bluey gains so much confidence from being around other dogs and will need a home with a friendly, confident canine companion to help show him the ropes. He absolutely thrives with another dog by his side, taking comfort in their presence and learning from their example every day.

Because of his gentle nature, Bluey would be best suited to a calm, predictable household rather than a busy or chaotic environment. He’ll need a family who understands that trust takes time and is happy to let him settle in at his own pace without expecting too much too soon.

Once Bluey feels safe, his sweet personality begins to shine. He enjoys being close to those he trusts and is learning every day that the world isn’t such a scary place. With patience, consistency, and plenty of positive experiences, this lovely boy has all the potential to become an incredibly loyal and devoted companion.

Bluey has had brief exposure to cats and handled it very well, and he has also been around horses, where he has shown a calm and sensible nature. He continues to take new experiences in his stride when given the time and confidence to do so.
