Meet Pauly!

Pauly is a deeply loving, loyal boy who has overcome more than most dogs ever should. Once fighting just to survive, he is now thriving in foster care and has become the ultimate “velcro dog,” happiest right by your side. His journey is nothing short of incredible, and now all he needs is a special home to give him the love he’s always deserved.

Pauly came into our care all the way from Maningrida, a remote community in the Northern Territory. When he arrived, the state he was in was heartbreaking. He was severely emaciated — his spine, ribs, and hip bones clearly visible — and he had lost most of his hair. It was clear he had gone without food, care, and comfort for far too long. Without rescue, Pauly likely wouldn’t have survived.

At first, Pauly didn’t know what it meant to feel safe. Trust didn’t come easily, and everything about the world around him was uncertain. But with patience, gentle care, and consistency, he slowly began to let his guard down.

And what has come out the other side is something truly special.

Pauly has completely blossomed in foster care. He now embraces life with a quiet joy and a deep appreciation for the simple things — a full belly, a soft place to rest, and most of all, human connection. He is incredibly food motivated (the quickest way to win him over!) and continues to grow in confidence every day.

He lives beautifully alongside other dogs and is currently sharing his foster home with six others, showing just how well he has adapted and how far he has come.

Pauly is the definition of a velcro dog. He doesn’t just enjoy being around people — he needs that closeness. He will follow you from room to room, settle in beside you, and happily melt into your arms for cuddles. He is gentle, affectionate, and so trusting now, a complete transformation from the boy who first came into our care.

He is mostly house-trained, with only the occasional accident, and continues to improve with routine and guidance.

Pauly would suit a very special home — one that will truly value him, cherish him, and understand just how far he has come. He isn’t asking for much, just a safe place, a loving person, and the chance to never feel alone or unwanted again.

In return, he will give you everything he has — loyalty, love, and a bond that is incredibly deep and genuine.
